Flowers are more than just a "pretty face". Some are edible, and many have historically been used for medicine. Did you know that aspirin was once derived from the willow? The bark contains salicin, which is a natural pain killer. Salicylic acid is a synthetic version of this product, from which modern day aspirin is made. If you know what you're doing, you can create an entire medicine chest from plants! (DISCLAIMER: Some medicinal plants look remarkably like poisonous ones. DO NOT eat, or use plants for medicinal purposes, unless you are 100% certain of what you are doing! )
